Camlock couplings, also known as Cam and Groove fittings, are quick-connect couplings used in fluid transfer applications for easy and efficient connection and disconnection of hoses and pipes. They consist of two primary parts: the coupler (female) and the adapter (male), which lock together using a cam lever mechanism. Camlock couplings are available in various materials, types, and configurations, each suited for different applications.
Types of Camlock Couplings:
Type A: Male Adapter with Female Thread
Description: Features a male adapter (grooved end) on one side and a female threaded end on the other.
Applications: Used to connect hoses with male threads to a pipe or a machine with female threads. Commonly found in industries where hoses are frequently connected to threaded equipment.
Type B: Female Coupler with Male Thread
Description: Features a female coupler (with cam arms) on one side and a male threaded end on the other.
Applications: Ideal for attaching hoses with a female coupler to equipment or piping with male threads. Used in various industries, including water treatment and chemical processing.
Type C: Coupler with Hose Shank
Description: Features a female coupler on one side and a hose shank on the other.
Applications: Commonly used to connect hoses in pumping applications or in fuel and chemical transfer. The hose shank end is inserted into a hose and secured with a clamp, while the coupler connects to a male adapter.
Type D: Female Coupler with Female Thread
Description: Has a female coupler on one side and a female threaded end on the other.
Applications: Used to connect a hose to equipment or a pipe with male threads, ideal for situations where quick disconnects are frequently required, such as in agricultural sprayers and bulk fluid transport.
Type E: Male Adapter with Hose Shank
Description: Features a male adapter on one side and a hose shank on the other.
Applications: Designed for use where a hose needs to be connected directly to a female coupler. Widely used in suction and discharge operations, such as tank trucks and irrigation systems.
Type F: Male Adapter with Male Thread
Description: Has a male adapter on one side and a male threaded end on the other.
Applications: Suitable for connecting a hose with a female coupler to a threaded port or pipe. Often used in petroleum and chemical transport, as well as in tank trucks.
Type DC: Dust Cap (Female)
Description: A cap that fits over the male adapter to protect it from dust, dirt, and damage.
Applications: Used to seal and protect the male adapter when it is not in use, preventing contamination and preserving the integrity of the coupling.
Type DP: Dust Plug (Male)
Description: A plug that fits into the female coupler to protect it from contaminants.
Applications: Used to seal the female coupler when disconnected, ideal for storage or transportation to prevent dust, dirt, and moisture from entering.
